Ingrid Stölzel

Ingrid Stölzel is a composer whose music has been performed by ensembles such as Third Angle, newEar, California E.A.R. Unit, Adaskin String Trio, Oakwood Chamber Players, Hartt Contemporary Players, and Synchronia. She has been invited to the Oregon Bach Festival, Ernest Bloch Festival, Music 01 and 03, Chamber Music Conference of the East, Otterbein Contemporary Music Festival, Hildegard Festival, Women Composers‚ Showcase, New Jersey City University, Bard Composers/ Conductors Institute, Indiana State Contemporary Music Festival, and James Madison Annual Contemporary Music Festival and has done residencies at the Ragdale Foundation and the Atlantic Center for the Arts. She has had masterclasses with Jennifer Higdon, Joan Tower, David del Tredici, Martin Bresnick, Louis Andriessen, Donald Crockett, Krzysztof Penderecki, Michael Torke, Tan Dun, Fredric Rzewski, and R. Murray Schaefer.

Stölzel received her Master of Music in Composition from the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut where she studied with Dr. Robert Carl and Dr. James Sellars. She earned her Bachelor of Music from the Conservatory of Music in Kansas City.

Stölzel, a native of Germany and permanent resident of the United States, is currently on the Board of Directors of the newEar Contemporary Music Ensemble in Kansas City, and is the program manager of the Youth Symphony of Kansas City.
